Dog & Cat License Renewals

The 2012 Dog and Cat tags are available at the Town Office. Town of Virden By-Law No. 2599 requires that each dog and cat must be licensed. The Purpose of a license is to enable the animal control officer to determine the pet’s owner should the pet be impounded.  When a non-licensed dog or cat is impounded, the animal control officer can not determine the owner.  Impounded cats and dogs are housed for a 72 hour period and if not claimed they are disposed of. Should your dog or cat go missing, please check with the Town Office at 748-2440.

Compost Transfer Station

The Town of  Virden would like to ask the co-operation of the general public in the use of the compost transfer station located on Anniversary Road.  While the majority of users treat the facility with respect, there are still individuals who continue to abuse the facility by throwing plastic bags, tree branches, garbage and other foreign material in the compost or around the bin.  THIS ABUSE DESTROYS THE VALUE OF THE COMPOST!!!  Thank you for your co-operation!
