Council Member Bios
Mayor Jeff McConnell
Mayor McConnell practices law at McNeill Harasymchuk McConnell and has been a member of Town of Virden Council since 1998. He has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities since 2002 and loves living in Virden.
Mayor McConnell and his wife, Margaret, have two children, Beth and Alex, as well as Bailey and Kira, the family dogs. While he grew up in Winnipeg and was educated at the University of Manitoba, Mayor McConnell has been a resident of Virden since 1994.
Councilor Maxine Chacun
Chacun was raised in the Lenore District and graduated from Virden Collegiate. She has resided in Virden since 1965. She and her husband, Marcel, have always been self-employed in the construction and food service industries. They have three adult children and three granddaughters.
Maxine has been a Town of Virden Councillor since 1995 and a member of the urban directors for the Western District of the Association of Manitoba Municipalities since November 2006.
She has belonged to the Virden Royal Purple for 37 years and enjoys volunteering at her church, St. Paul's United, and other community organizations.
Councilor Tony Schneider
Schneider has lived in Virden for 36 years. She is married to Tom Schneider and they have 2 children. They have owned their own commercial painting business TnT Concepts for 11 years. Schneider belongs to Sacred Heart Parish and the women's choir, Noteable Women.
