The Town of Virden is accepting applications for the full-time position of Waterworks Foreman. This senior supervisory position reports directly to the Manager of Works and Utilities or in their absence, the Chief Administrative Officer.
The Waterworks Foreman will assist in the planning of, and be responsible for the directing and supervising of all activities relative to the water and sewer department.
The incumbent requires a minimum Class III operator certification as set out by Manitoba Conservation for Water Treatment and Class II for Sewage Treatment, or the ability to obtain same. The individual must hold a valid Class 5 Manitoba Drivers License. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and an ability to get along with the public, Council and staff is critical. Knowledge of municipal infrastructure is preferred. An ability to work in a computerized environment and effectively direct and supervise staff is essential along with a willingness and the ability to undertake progressive formal training as required.
Individuals who have a minimum of five years experience in a supervisory position in a municipal water and sewer operator position, will be ideal candidates for this position. A combination of experience and related education will be considered.
