Tundra Oil and Gas Place

@virdenparksandrec

Please be advised that effective Saturday, December 6th, 2021, public health orders require youth aged 12 to 17 attending indoor sporting and recreational facilities to provide proof they have received at least one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine for COVID-19 or they must provide proof of a pharmacist-confirmed negative result from an approved rapid antigen test from a test taken within the 72 hours before they participate.

For those attending a ticketed event, such as an Oil Capitals game, proof of full immunization is still required for anyone 12 years of age and older.

Government-issued identification or a school ID card must also be provided.  Youth under 12 may be required to provide proof of age.  Links to copies of the required form for proof of receiving one dose of vaccine or proof of a confirmed negative test can be found below.

Rapid antigen testing is available at Virden Drugs, 310 King Street East, Virden, at a cost of $40.00 per test.

Acceptable government-issued ID includes provincial driver’s licences, provincial health cards, passports, status cards, permanent resident cards, citizenship cars, social insurance cards and birth certificates.  Students may also use school-issued student ID cards. Photocopies of any of the above will be accepted.

Anyone over the age of 18 visiting the arena, walking track, fitness centre or other recreational programming at Tundra Oil and Gas Place, will be required to show proof of immunization along with government-issued photo identification.

The following documents are considered valid proof of immunization in Manitoba:

  • Manitoba Immunization Card
  • National Defence Canada Covid-19 Vaccine Record/Card
  • Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) Travel Vaccination Record
  • An official document issued by a Canadian province or territory containing information of a person’s COVID-19 vaccination history
  • International travellers: Immunization documentation submitted to Canadian border service officials and government-issued photo identification that confirms their citizenship.

To verify immunization status for Manitobans, operators will use the Manitoba Immunization Verifier application to confirm a person's immunization status and then confirm the individual's identity against government-issued identification.

Individuals that do not show proof of immunization as listed above will not be permitted to enter the facility or participate in indoor programming unless they fall under an exemption in the provincial public health orders.

Masks are required when entering Tundra Oil & Gas Place.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank everyone for their anticipated co-operation.  For more information, please refer to the links below.

A new Multi-Purpose Recreational Facility, now known as Tundra Oil and Gas Place, was built in Virden in 2011. This building contains a hockey rink, community hall, walking track, office space, meeting rooms, canteen and a fitness centre.

This building has been set up to be wheelchair friendly with the installation of an elevator for those that are unable to use the stairs.

The hockey rink has 1200 individual seats, an NHL-sized ice surface, and provides a comfortable environment with climate control.

During August this area is transformed into a rodeo arena that offers high classed performances for 3 days. The community hall located within this building offers seating for 500 people and an exceptionally large kitchen to host any of your entertaining needs.

Tundra Oil and Gas Place holds facility tours showcasing how the construction of the facility followed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.
